God appears, and God is light, To those poor souls who dwell in night; But does a human form display To those who dwell in realms of day.

1. This stanza by William Blake means that God appears in many ways, shapes, and forms to people everywhere. God appears no matter who the person is. The stanza says that God appears in the form of light, which can mean or symbolize a sign of hope to the people that are in dark times.Meaning they might be having hard times in their life. However, God appears in human form to the people that are not necessarily living in the darkness of their lives, but still have faith and hope in God.

2. He uses a metaphor when he says "God is light" because he talks about God as being in the form of light. In this stanza he also uses imagery. When the reader reads this stanza, the reader can visualize God as being in the form of light or human form.
